Phil Cohen’s parents opened a gift shop at 242 Main Street in 1955, planting roots in the heart of downtown Brockton. Born and raised in this community, Phil learned the meaning of trust and hard work from his parents’ example.

After college, Phil saw an opportunity to build on that legacy and transformed the family business into a full-service pawn and gold buying shop in 1992, keeping the same community values his parents established from day one.

Ideal Jewelry & Loan still operates from that same address on Main Street. What started as a neighborhood gift shop is now Brockton’s most trusted pawn shop, serving over 1 million customers across the South Shore with honest appraisals, fair pricing, and same-day cash.
